JAKARTA - A total of eight SOEs from China which is a manufacturer of spinning machines (spindle) targeting exports of textile spinning machinery valued at USD1, 2 billion to Indonesia over five years.
The value was based on the assumption, one machine unit spun worth USD100. As of eight SOEs include China's Hi-Tech Group Corporation, Hi-Tech Heavy Industry Co.., Ltd., and China Texmatch Co.., Ltd..
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Textile Association (API) Ade Sudrajat Usman. Ade said, as many as 14 million new spinning machine is needed to realize the target of Indonesia became a major yarn producers in the world. Two million machines from 14 million machines, he said, is a Chinese production, and has been used by the textile spinning sector nationally.
Ade explained, at present, Indonesia only has eight million units of currency, cordage, as many as six million units have aged 20 years or older and must be replaced. In fact, he said, China has 100 million units spindle.
"If 14 million units of spinning machines was achieved, they (Chinese SOEs) intends to explore investment opportunities for the assembly (assembling) spinning machines in Indonesia. If you've reached four million units, they will start to invest spare part. So, local content will be higher. But, still depends on the investment facilities offered by Indonesia, "said Ade in Jakarta on Monday (11/22/2010).
As a first step, according to Ade, the goal of China's SOEs to come to Indonesia this time, to open a sales service for Chinese machines. That, he said, was done in the last year at its headquarters in Semarang.
Ade said, for 30 years, Indonesia has always used textile machinery imported from Europe and Japan. Then in 2009 and 2010, he said, Indonesia has begun to use the machine from China.
"Technology is rapidly developing China, so the quality of machines and their products are not inferior to other countries made. China's textile machinery more efficient in electricity consumption so it is more efficient," said Ade.
Multifarious Industries Director General Ministry of Industry Manufacturing Base Irmawan Budi said that if the Indonesian population of approximately one-fifth of China, then ideally the number of spinning machines in the country reached 20 million units.
Minister of Industry, MS Hidayat said, the arrival of Chinese SOEs are the responses after the Indonesian government on a visit to Beijing last month. "Chinese investors had come to see me. They came to respond to a meeting with me in Beijing a month ago," said Hidayat.
Vice President of China Hi-Tech Group Corporation Maoxin Ye explains, so far, it has filled the needs of textile machinery in Indonesia. "We have to meet as many as two million units. So we are ready to transfer technology machinery that we have to invest in Indonesia," explained Maoxin.
Director General of the Ministry of Industry-Based Manufacturing Panggah Susan added that the government is developing the textile sector as a priority industry, through a restructuring program.
"Since 2007, the company that became a party to restructure existing programs as much as 92, 2008 as many as 175 firms, as many as 193 companies in 2009, and 2010 as many as 202 companies. So, we welcome and support the cooperation between Indonesia and China," explained Panggah.
Similar disclosed by Ade. He said the government was working to revive the textile industry, especially spinning and weaving that has been submerged. (adn)
