JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Air Carrier Association (INACA) assess Indonesia not ready for the application of aviation liberalization policy of ASEAN or the ASEAN Open Sky 2015.
Secretary-General INACA Tengku Burhanuddin, said the current condition of the airline industry has not been strong enough country to welcome the agreement to be implemented the ASEAN countries.
"Indonesia should strengthen the domestic aviation industry before opening the area to receive the airlines of other countries passing in Indonesia. If the country is strong, just to go international," said Tengku on the sidelines of a seminar on "Preparedness and Benefits ASEAN Open Skies" in Jakarta yesterday .
He continues, lack of infrastructure is evident from the condition of the international airport and owned a fleet of aircraft carriers in Indonesia.Kebanyakan local airlines are still using old aircraft to service flights.
In order to compete with foreign airlines service, the national airline fleet would have to perform rejuvenation. "We do not want to come along with a small country like Singapore, prepared just before the infrastructure, airlines, and coordination of related ministries interotoritas to provide support for airlinesnasional," he added. Tengku argues, to prepare towards liberalization era, Indonesia could follow the example of China.
As a big country which has many international airports, Bamboo Curtain country has chosen to first improve the condition of domestic flights and meet the needs of aviation services in the country with local airlines. Thus, when China allowed foreign airlines incoming international flights to serve there, the local airline market can compete with foreign airlines.

He worried about the national airline company INACA which will be used by other countries through the implementation of open sky, especially by countries with small geographical area and only had one point such as Singapore and Brunei Darussalam as well as countries that often become the hub for long-distance international flights like Malaysia.
"From the perspective of national aviation industry is actually the implementation of the ASEAN Open Sky is not too significant. Instead precisely airlines and airports in Singapore and Malaysia who will be more competitive in implementing the open sky. He suggested, if the government kept the agreement, Indonesia must implement the liberalization of limited or limited open sky. These characteristics are most appropriate to be applied on a large country that has some major cities (primary points) and the geography is not a hub state.
Tengku also recommends that Indonesia has adopted a limited liberalization of a country larger than the ASEAN countries such as China, America, Japan, Australia, and Russia. These countries has the potential to bring more foreign tourists to Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Director General of Civil Aviation Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) Herry Bakti S Gumay revealed, Indonesia in facing the ASEAN Open Sky 2015 have been fully prepared. However, he admitted Indonesia was still require improvement both in terms of infrastructure as well as the national airline fleet.
