Innovation Lab, Container for Application Builder

VIVAnews - Looking at the trend that so rapid application development, PT Indosat Tbk (Indosat) inaugurated a laboratory specially designed for mobile application developers. The vessels are entitled Indosat Innovation Lab.
Teguh Prasetya, Group Head of Brand Marketing Indosat said in the Innovation Lab, the company will develop an incubation system that can help application developers and young innovators to create.

"Less is more like a container for developers. They can experiment and discuss intensively to meet the needs of the market and application development," said Teguh in Jakarta, 23 November 2010. "Every developer involved are not charged a dime, just register it."

In building "playground" for developers of applications that Indosat is not alone. The company is 60 percent owned by Qatar Telecom is embracing a number of network and telecommunications vendors such as Cisco, Nokia Siemens Networks, Research In Motion, Alcatel Lucent, HP, ZTE, and Ericsson.

Inside the Innovation Lab, application developers can enjoy various facilities include a demonstration room, seminar rooms, the developer space, as well as 42 Mbps HSPA broadband access. Demo room can be used by developers to try out various recent applications of the device or gadget-based Blackberry OS, Android, and other OS-OS.

"Meanwhile, the Innovation Lab opened in Jakarta and can be used by the developers of BlackBerry applications. After this, we will open the same lab in Bandung for the Google Android platform," said Teguh.

Meanwhile, President Director of Indosat Harry Sasongko assess the presence of the Innovation Lab as a center for gathering of young innovators in developing applications of various operating systems.

"All of this is the fruit of our cooperation and a number of vendors. We only bridge the local developers and vendors. All of the results of mutual cooperation," said Harry.

However, Indosat set no target number of local developers who will dibidiknya. And, companies are also reluctant to mention the value of the investment of the Innovation Lab.
