Internet Site Blocking Not Effectively Prevent Pornography

Semarang (ANTARA) - Blocking of Internet sites that contain pornographic content is not an effective way to prevent Internet users, especially young people accessing the site, said Director of Telematics Empowerment, Ministry of Communications and Information, Bambang Soeprijanto.

"The move (Block, ed.) May be efficient, but actually not effective," he said after opening the socialization of the "Internet Healthy and Safe" themed "Insan Goes to Campus" in Semarang, on Friday.

According to him, step blocking pornography sites that may be performed while so that Internet users can not open a site that includes and relates to the content.

However, he said, usually the site owner directly change the name of the site that have been blocked so that the steps blocking the site in question does not prevent users to access them.

"One time the pornography sites were blocked, but site owners have a variety of ways to overcome them, for example directly change the name of the site. It's the same, still conceded," he said.

What's more, he said, the number of sites that contain negative content, like pornography are many and come from all over the world, while blocking the officer must be very limited.

Therefore, he said, efforts that are more appropriate to prevent abuse of the Internet must be done with a social approach to learning and understanding to provide Internet users, especially the younger generation.

"Negative things that can be generated from the Internet of course very much, ranging pornographic content to fraud, but do not forget that the benefits that can be obtained from the internet is also very big," he said.

If only highlight the negative side, he continued, of course, will waste energy resulting in resistance to the internet, but with the Internet, one can obtain many positive sides.

"The sides are positive that we continue to socialize, such as information search, discussion events, and so forth, but do not forget we explain the losses if the Internet is misused," said Bambang.

Meanwhile, Adie Marzuki, Healthy Internet Socialization Team, said it was targeting efforts to socialize the use of the Internet in a healthy and safe on the students who are beginning users.

"Our assumption, they have not much to explore and find positive uses a variety of Internet resources that need to gain insight and understanding related to it so as not to fall on the negative side of the internet," he said.

Adie recognize the benefits of socialization among students in that it can not be seen instantly, but it takes a long process when they really take advantage of the Internet as part of the requirement.
