The design of the aircraft N219
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Since 2006, PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PT DI) has promoted a new model aircraft N219. Turboprop aircraft with 19 passengers was targeted to serve the needs of aviation pioneer for connecting remote areas.
To develop, PT DI to work with Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) in developing the aerodynamic test models. Meanwhile, aerodinamikanya own test conducted in 2008.
Today, Tuesday (12/28/2010), the results of dynamic tests conducted at the Laboratory of Aero Gasdinamika BPPT and Vibration, Serpong, submitted to PTDI, marking the completion of the test. Test results show the ability of aircraft to take off and land as well as stability.
Andi Alisjahbana, Director Aerostruktur PT DI said, "So far we have test aerodynamics that includes 139 polar." Polar related to the stability of the position of aircraft in certain conditions in accordance with the command given to him.
In addition, based on aerodynamic tests, we concluded that the plane could take off and landing (take off and landing) on a short runway. "The foundation needed to take off and landing just 600 meters away," said Andi.
According to Andi, the ability is much needed for aircraft pioneer. "Many remote areas in Indonesia which do not have large land. As small islands, there is likely build a big airport," said Andi.
Model used in aerodynamic tests have 1:6,3 size comparison. Aerodynamic test itself is conducted in a closed circuit wind tunnel. The test results also revealed the stability of longitudinal and lateral dimension of the plane.
The design of the aircraft still had to undergo another test. Some of them are ditching test, static test aircraft, test production engines, and finally test flight. Target, the aircraft can be launched next two years.
