ISTANBUL, KOMPAS.com - Mavi Marmara, Turkey ships ever attacked Israel when it broke through the blockade to the Gaza Strip, was greeted like a hero by thousands of people when arriving in Istanbul, Turkey, Sunday (12/26/2010).

According to the ferry owner, a group of Turkish fighter named IHH, Mavi Marmara will be part of a new fleet which will go to Gaza on May 31, 2011, exactly a year after the deadly attacks.
Turkish Foreign Minister said he wanted to see a new leaf after years of difficult relations with Israel, but Jewish state had apologized for the attack on the ship's aid.

After the attack, Egypt, who reached peace with Israel in 1979, opened its Rafah border to allow aid convoys into Gaza - widely seen as an attempt to ward off criticism over Egypt's role in the blockade.
Cairo, in coordination with Israel, allowing only limited in its border crossing since Hamas seized control of Gaza in 2007.
