CALIFORNIA - Twitter finally respond to some accusations that says that Twitter did not deliberately make a Trending Topics WikiLeaks.
Twitter spokeswoman, Carolyn Penner, has just published a blog post on Twitter's about how a Trending Topics formed on Twitter. Similarly, as quoted by Mashable, Friday (12/10/2010).
"Essentially, it offers a fun new Twitter on popularity. Trending Topics are designed to help people find the latest news from around the world. Get what topics are hot, not just the popular," Penner wrote on the blog.
"Topic changed to a list of trends as the volume of tweets about a topic that had suddenly increased dramatically," Penner added.
From this explanation, we can conclude the reasons why WikiLeaks not become Trending Topics this week, though often discussed on Twitter a few times, is because there is no dramatic increase in the level of discussion on WikiLeaks, compared to the previous one.
However, according to data taken from Trendistic, discussions on WikiLeaks has increased significantly lately, and Trending Topics WikiLeaks has not become, since 26 August. Is this because Twitter fear of pressure from the U.S. government?
