JAKARTA - The analyst firm Gartner says that 76 percent of companies will go private cloud-computing strategy in 2012.
Brian Prentice, Research Vice-President of Gartner, in the event 'Microsoft's Cloud Summit 2011', Jakarta (20/01/2011), said it was important for chief information officers (CIOs) in Asia look at virtualization and cloud-computing as a top priority in 2011.
Cloud-computing technologies in Indonesia itself is still not so popular. Arya Sanjaya, World Ahead Bussines Development Manager of Intel Indonesia, said that in Indonesiacloud-computing is still in early development stages.
"The trend of local business right now is going to cloud-computing. Will increase the number of companies that will use the cloud," said Arya.
Sutanto Hartono, President Director of Indonesia said to technology PT.Microsoft Private Cloud in Indonesia, Microsoft already has 17 corporate customers who use the technology Hyper-V and System Center.
"Most companies in Indonesia who are already using cloud-computing technology is still the majority of large companies. This is because only a few know of the technology cloud-computing," said Sutanto.
Then, Chris Sharp, General Manager of Cloud Regional Strategist for Microsoft Asia Pacific and Japan, adding that in the future Microsoft will also focus on the small medium business (SMB) in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, John Galligan, Director for Microsoft's Internet Policy for Asia Pacific, predicts that the growth rate of cloud would reach 60 percent within the next 3-4 years.
