NEW YORK - A number of telecommunications companies reportedly began to worry about the threat of Skype. Because a number of international calls through telephone traffic has decreased quite significantly.
Of the data released by TeleGeograpy show international connections in 2010 decreased by 1 percent, or from 5 percent in 2009 to 4 percent in 2010. The same percentage as much as 413 billion minute call.
This decrease was clearly one of them caused by Internet-based communications service (VoIP), Skype, which was later used more and more internet users. The reason is obvious Skype provides free services.
"Demand remains strong international communication, but more and more people are finding they can communicate without the help of services from telecommunications companies," said Stephan Beckert, an analyst with TeleGeography, VoIP quoted Catalog, Tuesday (01/11/2011).
Skype will become one of the popular service because it means consumers will pay less for telephone calls in the future.
The results may be predictable, telecom operators will experience a decline in profits and Skype will continue to grow.
