JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Government gives more time for two weeks to Research In Motion (RIM) for denying access to pornography on the BlackBerry device communications. Minister of Communications and Information Tifatul Sembiring here on Monday (10/01/2011), said the government would impose the legal process to RIM if the deadline was ignored.
"The legal process could culminate in the revocation. Two weeks until the 21st of January," said Tifatul. Basic government to bring an action against RIM when ignoring a deadline closing access to pornography, according to him, is Law No. 36 of 1999 on Telecommunications, Law No. 11 Year 2008 on Information and Electronic Transaction, and Law No. 44 of 2008 on Pornography.
In addition to requesting the closure of access to pornography, according to Tifatul, the government also asked RIM to open a server in Indonesia so that law enforcement agencies in Indonesia can track the presence of offenders, particularly the perpetrators of corruption. RIM, he added, was not entitled to a privilege for all telecommunications operators in Indonesia must abide by and respect the laws in force in Indonesia. "There is no tolerance. The same firm in our country, the alien should not be the same?" Tifatul said.
