LOS ANGELES - A survey that tracks the most searched word on the Internet successfully confirmed the word 'spillcam' and 'Vuvuzela' at the top.
The survey conducted by the Global Language Monitor placed "Spillcam 'at the top. 'Spillcam' tragedy reflects the global impact of oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico that lasted for months.
While Vuvuzela followed afterwards, to prove if the trumpet of South African origin, known simply deafening, is the most searched word on the internet. Pamor Vuvuzela started exploding when the ongoing World Cup event in South Africa.
'Refudiate' combination of the word 'refute' (denied) and 'repudiate' (do not admit), also included in the list of top 10. This word was popularized by U.S. politicians, Sarah Palin.
Parties to the Global Language Monitor survey admitted to calculate this by using mathematical formula to
track the frequency of English words and phrases. As is known, the English language has been used as a global language that is used by approximately 1.58 billion people in the world.
Besides the three words above, Chinese President Hu Jintao is also the most searched word on the Internet, along with the word 'iPad' Apple tablet products, as well as 'Chilean Coal Miners' rescue 33 which represents the tragedy of Chile after miners buried for more than two months.
The word 'anger and Rage' is also graced the list prepared by the Global Language Monitor in 2010, along with 'Obamania' that occupied the last position in the top 10. The word 'Obamania' itself is a fairly popular uangkapan in the next two years.
"The word popular this year comes from the phrase of politicians, natural disasters, the World Cup, and the tragedies and incidents that could attract the attention of the world community," said president of Global Language Global, Paul JJ Payack, as quoted by the Straits Times, Tuesday (16/11 / 2010).
