JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Vice President of the United States and Nobel Peace Prize, Al Gore, will be present in Jakarta on January 9, 2011 in the event the Business for Environment (B4E) Forests Dialogue to celebrate the launch of International Year of Forests 2011, proclaimed by the UN.
As an influential figure who actively voice their environmental problems and climate change, Al Gore will deliver a speech exclusive, shared stories and visions of its efforts to realize a better world, and the role of sustainable forest in the future.
Guided by the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI), WWF-Indonesia, and Global Initiatives, the dialogue will be reviewed on the role of Indonesia's forests in an effort to reduce carbon emissions and combat global climate change. In the event that took place at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, Al Gore will be accompanied by several speakers, namely Irman Gusman (Chairman of DPD RI), El-Mustafa Benlamlih (Coordinator of the UN Population Division), Dr Efransjah (WWFIndonesia Executive Director), and Gita Wirjawan (Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board or the Investment Coordinating Board).
Chairman of DPD RI Irman Gusman explained that the Council is fully committed in promoting the development of low carbon while producing sustainable growth that have a positive impact, for both Indonesia and the environment.
"We've invited Al Gore to Jakarta to explain his ideas related to this issue while discussing the possibility of cooperation with the government, both at regional and local levels, businesses, and communities. It is necessary to protect our remaining forests are also slow the rate of warming globally, "he said in a press release on Monday (12/13/2010).
As for Dr Efransjah, Executive Director of WWF-Indonesia, will explore new initiatives to promote environment-driven development in Indonesia, precisely in the area of Heart of Borneo (HoB), tropical forest areas with the highest level of biodiversity in the world.

B4E Forests Dialogue will also be a moment of socialization agenda of the annual Business for the Environment Global Summit of the 5th, which is planned to be held on 27 to 29 April 2011 in Jakarta. B4E Summit is an international conference to facilitate dialogue and action of environmental concern for business actors. This time, the B4E Global Summit 2011 will be conducted with the support of DPD RI, the Government of Indonesia, WWF and Global Initiatives to bring together world leaders, CEOs, NGOs, international agencies, and media partners in the discussion on finding the solution, both for environmental problems as well as climate change is increasingly urgent.
