JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Technological developments are making the world stunned. Distance of thousands of kilometers can now feel close through high-speed broadband network. Data and communications can be shared as soon as possible. But be careful, broadband technology can actually be disastrous.
"Be careful, the development of LTE (Long Term Evolution) could be a great misfortune in the household. There is a bulkhead between the child and family at home. I'm afraid the father and son can not know each other later. The social implications should be taken into account," said faculty of Engineering Electro University of Indonesia Gunawan Wibisono at the launch of LTE 4G by Ericsson, on Tuesday (12/14/2010).
Gunawan said, in developing the technology, developers or users of broadband services will have to calculate socio-cultural implications that would arise. In addition to the bonding in the family about the increasingly weakened, problems that still need to be considered is a matter of information disclosure.
"Now it's as if toward openness. At a certain era, there is unnecessary information too openly explored. In Japan, there were zones where not even allowed into technology. Gunawan warned, it does not mean the technology should be prevented to enter. However, it should consider local content in accordance with the intended area. The government, he said, should think about it. "The key behind it is a human being. Regulator to prepare a good regulation, operators prepare the network and users utilize these technologies to increase its prosperity. Education is important to make people catch the opportunity, not from the negative side, but from the side of his life," he added.
VP Marketing and Communications, Ericsson Indonesia Hardyana Syintawati adds, people must be educated to use it wisely network through the content to suit the needs of society. "We ourselves must also wise to use broadband. Do not forget also the local content," he said.
