REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - Use of software (software) piracy in industrial environments in the country (INDONESIA) is still quite high, more than 50 percent. ''There are many industries that have not been conscious and still use pirated software, "said Chairman of Busines Software Alliance (BSA), Donny Sheyoputra, in Bandung, Wednesday (22/12).
Apart from the domestic industry, also found a number of foreign industries are still using illegal devices. Donny says BSA focus to right the situation and pirated antisoftware campaign in the business sector.
He said the industrial park is the area most commonly found pirated software. A number of piracy-prone industrial cities are Jakarta, Banten, Bandung, Makasar, Medan and Semarang.
In 2009, losses from software piracy amounted to 886 million U.S. dollars, up from 544 million U.S. dollars in the previous year. "This year it is possible to increase,''said Donny.
Under Article 7, paragraph 1 Copyright Act, perpetrators of piracy can get jail sentences of seven years or a fine of Rp1 billion. This penalty also applies to the user for commercial purposes, but the penalty and the fine is lower, which is five years imprisonment or a fine of Rp 500 million.
