Asteroid Steins, one huge asteroid being studied by scientists to uncover the origins of the universe.
KOMPAS.com - International Astronomical Union or the International Astronomical Union (IAU) gave an award for the world of astronomy in Indonesia. Four names from Indonesia astronomer who never manage Bosscha Observatory in Bandung, immortalized as the name of the asteroid.
Based on the data at the International Astronomical Union, which can be accessed at http://www.cfa.harvard.edu%20/%20IAU%20/%20lists, there are 4 names asteroids that astronomers use the name of Indonesia. All four are 12,176, 12,177, 12,178, and 12,179.
Asteroids are in fact found on October 16, 1977 in Palomar-Leiden Trojan program Survey. The inventor is a husband and wife Cornelis Johannes van Houten, and Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld.
Indonesia astronomers used the name is Bambang Hidayat and former vice president of the IAU in the year 1994-2000. Additional thanks to his name, now called the asteroid 12 176 12 176 Hidayat/3468 T-3.
Besides Bambang, name Moedji Raharto, former head of Bosscha Observatory in 1999-2004 are also used to name the asteroid 12 177. Now, these asteroids become Raharto/4074 12 177 T-3.
Meanwhile, the asteroid is now 12 178 12 178 Dhani/4304 T-3, according to the name Dhani Hendrawijaya solar physicist who served as director of Bosscha Observatory in the year 2004-2006.
Finally, the name of Taufiq Hidayat, director of the Observatory Bosscha year 2006-2010 is used to name the asteroid 12 179. Now, name the asteroid into Taufiq/5030 12 179 T-3.
According to the site which is managed Langitselatan.com one researcher at the Bosscha, Avivah Yamani, not just this time, astronomers at the observatory had the honor of the IAU. Since the days of the Dutch, the former head of Indonesia Observatorum Bosscha and astronomers also used in naming celestial objects.
