BERLIN - Apple decided to remove the Nazi anthem online music store iTunes of the German version. This statement a company spokesman told Reuters on Thursday (27/01/2011).
Taken from the name of a young activist who was killed in 1930. Horst Wessel Lied song, is the unofficial anthem of the Nazi party before it was banned in Germany, after World War II.
The emergence of Nazi songs on iTunes and Amazon's German site was first reported by the daily Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung. German newspaper claimed iTunes also sells songs and albums bands of neo-Nazis who banned its circulation by the government.
Apple claims to have deleted songs from iTunes Horst Wessel Lied. But not disclosed whether any other Nazi songs are also deleted.
Following Apple, Amazon also decided to delete the songs right-wing leanings of their site. Unfortunately, Amazon is not willing to provide comment.
