JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Waste electronics devices generally do not contain ingredients from environmentally friendly packaging materials, components, until the activity during production. Plastic material used as a casing or wrapper may contain hazardous materials and toxic elements.
So far, consumers are encouraged to avoid as much as possible direct secondhand electronic goods discarded into the environment because of the content of these materials. It was probably part of prevention in the downstream. In fact, efforts to anticipate the hazardous waste from electronic goods would be far more effective if prevention in the upstream can be done.
Almost all electronics companies are now inspired to make their products more environmentally friendly. But, of course not all have the same acceleration to achieve appropriate komitemennya. In the computer industry, Taiwan's Asus is probably one of the companies that successfully transform their products into more environmentally friendly.
"Being our responsibility to reduce carbon emissions and supervise the whole cycle of our products. In addition to adding energy-saving technologies like the ASUS exclusive Super Hybrid Engine to the notebook, and designs Digital VRM on the motherboard, ASUS has sought a maximum of more environmentally friendly start of the process design in research and development, procurement, production and marketing, "says Asus chairman Jonney Shih in a statement recently.
The commitment is indeed bearing fruit. Asus also became the first company to bring the halogen-free motherboard and the monitor to the market. EPEAT Gold certification, the EU Flower and Energy Saving Star has received the company.
Electronics firm commitment to continue to implement environmentally sound production must be encouraged. If all manufacturers are competing to make their products makiin friendly, of hazardous waste in the future can be prevented.
