McDonald's New Zealand branch said they were reviewing its Internet access policy, after a group of gay clubs say that fast food companies are blocking their websites from its Wi-Fi network.
Wellington - New Zealand McDonald's branch said they were reviewing its Internet access policy, after a group of gay clubs say that fast food companies are blocking their websites from its Wi-Fi network.
GayNZ.com gay lifestyle website, sent a open letter to McDonald's, for censoring their website in Wi-Fi network to 132 McDonald restaurants in New Zealand. Similarly, as quoted by AFP on Tuesday (01/11/2011).
"There is a difference between sexuality with sex. Maybe your sensors do not understand this," wrote GayNZ website.
Meanwhile, the McDonald said that they blocked the website gambling and adult websites from their Wi-Fi networks is because McDonald's is a family restaurant and all its contents must be in accordance with the kids.
"However, the filter of our Wi-Fi network is not always good. We are very pleased to be reviewing our website, because it can check the complaints from customers who feel that the site is treated unfairly," a statement from McDonald's.
While head of Rainbow Youth, gay clubs in New Zealand, Tom Hamilton, said that nothing is worse than their organization's website.
"Rainbow Youth Website offers support services for young gays and lesbians," said Hamilton.
"Clearly there is an error in the approach taken by McDonald. Website Youth is not dangerous for the young," added Hamilton.
