Similar Earth Planet Discovered Outside Our Solar System
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NEW YORK - A spaceship owned by the United States National Space Agency NASA has detected a smallest rocky planet ever found outside our solar system the Sun. So their official statement on Monday.
Exoplanets - so called because orbiting stars other than the Sun - have called Kepler-10b. This planet-sized 1.4 times the diameter of Earth and has more than eight months of observations were made and relevant data collected, the agency said. This is the first rocky planet found, or like the Earth.
"All the best ability Kepler had come together to produce the first solid evidence of a rocky planet orbiting a star other than our sun," said Natalie Batalha, vice chairman of the science team for NASA's mission. "Tim Kepler made a commitment in 2010 about finding the signs of a small planet in the data, and the start paid off."
Kepler-10b size and composition of the rocky terrain would make it more like Earth, rather than gas planets contain liquid, and allow for the lives of several kinds of living things, if the distance is possible, says NASA. The distance the planet is 20 times closer than Mercury to the Sun.
Kepler's star distance-10b is about 560 light years from Earth, according to NASA. However, this discovery makes scientists are optimistic about something else that might ternungkap. "Although this planet is not in the habitable zone, interestingly, can be explored in the future," said program scientist Kepler, Douglas Hudgins.
This mission is the first institution capable of finding Earth-sized planet near the habitable zone. The distance from the star allows it to maintain the water and the potential for life.
