Google Launches Search Engine for the Museum of Art
CALIFORNIA - Google revealed its plans to launch the Art Project, a Google search engine to an art museum.
Art Project contains features art from 17 museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, The State Hermitage Museum in St.Petersburg, Tate Britain and The National Gallery in London, the Museo Reino Sofia in Madrid, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Similarly, as quoted by USA Today, Wednesday (02/02/2011).
Through Art Project, the user can navigate to these museums and saw more than 1,000 works of art from 400 artists. For this project Google is not using the car as a collector of data for Street View, but with a machine that resembles a rail trolley.
Google's Art Project also made a feature descriptions of objects displayed in museums. Works of art on display at the Art Project will be connected with information panels and YouTube videos.
Each image works on display at the Art Museum Project gigapixel photos using technology. Users also can view these images with a very close distance.
In addition, users can post comments on the works on display at the Art Project, and share links to friends by the user.
