DUO designers Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana announced that they will incorporate the secondary line, D & G by Dolce & Gabbana primary line. Merger of the two lines was done because both designers consider line D & G is not much different from the Dolce & Gabbana, both in terms of the design and price range.
"They want to focus on one brand only, Dolce & Gabbana, which is their primary line," said a source close to the designer duo.
Outside of the decisions taken Dolce and Gabbana, many actors who do not understand fashion, and regrets the move.
"I do not understand the decision they took because the line D & G is the largest source of income for them," said one retailer told Vogue Italia.
The line D & G contributed 400 million euros per year and is a line of younger and became a favorite to many consumers. Meanwhile, another retailer said that the decision taken by Dolce and Gabbana is a positive thing that can help to balance while strengthening the position of Dolce & Gabbana on the market.
"Two lines that have not much different style can be cannibals one another," said Senior Analyst Mintel International Fashion Katrin Magnussen.
"Line Dolce & Gabbana and D & G have in common in terms of design and price range-line D & G is too close to the Dolce & Gabbana," she continued.
Dolce & Gabbana party itself says, the last D & G collection is a collection of spring and summer of 2012 that was shown some time ago at the Milan Fashion Week. Regarding the second line of its mode of fusion, both Dolce and Gabbana refused to give comment.
