CALIFORNIA - The musicians and fans will now be able to view the metric data from their success on the Billboard, which today launched 'Social 50', a chart to measure an artist's popularity based on social networking activity.
In March last, internet users were introduced with Next Big Sound, a tool that can measure the popularity based on the activities of fans around websites such as Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Twitter, iLike, Wikipedia, SoundCloud, Reverb Nation, Pure Volume, OurStage, Vimeo, Bebo, Amie Street, Jam Legend and Virb. Similarly, as quoted by Mashable, Friday (03/12/2010).
Social Service 50 will provide the data to be used by Billboard to make Social 50 weekly chart.
As NBS, Social 50 will provide ratings to the artist by using the metric data based on the number of friends, fans and followers (depending on the network), the number of playback songs weekly. The order of ranking is also influenced by measuring the ratio seen by fans of the artist's homepage.
Artists are mostly present in the chart is the average mainstream artist, 10 top artists including Rihanna, Eminem, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Nick Minaj, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and others.
"We will continue the way we create a chart in order to change the music world," said Bill Werde, editorial director of Billboard-.
"Social 50 is one step in the evolution of Billboard and an important response to the time that has changed now," he added.
