Indonesia will increase cooperation with Singapore in five industry sectors namely shipbuilding, machinery, electronic components and education.
JAKARTA - Indonesia will increase cooperation with Singapore in five industry sectors namely shipbuilding, machinery, electronic components and education.
Minister of Industry, MS Hidayat said that, at present, several ship companies in Singapore has been operating in Batam. According to him, in the domestic production of ships required to meet the transportation needs, transportation of oil and gas, and defense.
"I ask so I can open the possibility of cooperation in the fields of ship building because Singapore is known to have that ability," said Hidayat in Jakarta, Tuesday (4/1/2010).
Director General of Industry Leading High Technology-Based Industry Ministry (Kemenperin) Budi Darmadi explained, the potential of Singapore in the shipping sector could be a logistics base for shipbuilding. "Such collaboration could be a win-win, so we do not need to store a variety of spare parts whose prices are also expensive,"said Budi.
In addition to the shipping sector, Budi explains, Indonesia will also enhance cooperation in the sectors of electronic components and laboratory testing of components. Until now, electronic component products manufactured in Batam is being sent to Singapore to be tested in the laboratory.
"Components that need through pengujuan in the laboratory as free of harmful substances. It also supports the implementation of the special ASEAN harmonization of electronic products. In the future do not need new investment to the laboratory because it has been working with Singapore," said Budi.
Furthermore Hidayat said, the institute also invited Singapore to cooperate in education, especially schools that fostered by Kemenperin industry.
