LONDON - Last year, sales of music in physical form is falling, though for digital music sales have increased. All this illustrates the failure of the music industry against piracy.
Singles and album sales of physical formats in 2010 fell 7 percent from a year earlier, which became 119.9 coffee, according to a report from the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Similarly, as quoted by The Independent, Thursday (06/01/2011).
Meanwhile, digital album sales rose to 21 million paid downloads, to the physical format of CD albums fell from 112.5 million copies to 98.5 million copies.
Then, for digital single sales reached 161.8 million paid downloads, 6 persan higher than last year.
Geoff Taylor, Chief-Executive of the BPI, said that while digital music sales figures are quite positive, but still could not offset a decline in album sales of physical formats.
"It takes significant action to reduce the number of illegal downloading, if we want to stabilize the back of music sales," said Taylor.
